Day 152 - Why can't life always taste this good?

Saturday, May 31, 2008: Strawberry Cream cheese cupcakes: O My God

Today was Steph's b-day and because Troy's mom owes us a little favor we brought Steph these amazing, crazy, fantastic cupcakes. They are French vanilla with strawberry jam and cream cheese icing.

Please, start crying now because these may be the BEST thing that I've eaten all year. I may have gone blind with happiness. So light, so fluffy and cream cheesy. Jesus Mary Jane they were AWESOME FANTASTIC.

I want to start crying because they are gone. The www.CakesbyVickie.com website should be up and running shortly (around the end of june). If you need a cake, for weddings or for fun, please contact her. You will in no way be disappointed. I haven't yet… why do you think I stick around? For Troy. No! For cake.

See! Everyone is happy.

We went to the Brewery later. Some things happened including much drinking and bullshitting. This is me and Yana screwing around on the way. I took the cupcakes with me. They were THAT good.

Love that shirt. New shirt btw.

I tried to get a picture of it in the bathroom. It didn't work out so hot.

Here is Yana and Allen. I didn't get one good picture of the birthday girl sadly.

And me and Troy. He is a pig.

At the end of the show, everyone got on stage. Everyone but me and Troy cuz we are anti-social like that. And who would take this picture?

Happy Birthday Steph. Thanks for inviting us. It was a great great time.

Day145 - This year was much more… lucid.

Saturday, May 24, 2008: Block Party: Stuff and things.

Back home, we have "Block Parties." To everyone not from that part of the state, it is more like a bazaar. Most have rides and music, all have food and/or least beer. Every fire company and most churches will have one to some degree. Friendship Fire Co. is the first and during Memorial Day weekend. You may remember my blog from last year. I barely do - just bits and pieces.

This year was much more… lucid.

I did meet a very great friend from high school that I hadn't seen in at least 10 years. He made the night worth while I should say. I'm sure, maybe 15 years ago, that I came to this block party with this old friend, and here we stood with my old man and hisold lady. I love when things come full circle.

Speaking of his wife, she was very nice as well. Check out her website: www.wordofmouthpa.com - especially if you are a rock star. They are trying to help PA musicians get more press. You know, something "PA Musician" is supposed to do but does not.

But I digress.

What I'm calling new is seeing the Pop Tart Monkeys and their new line-up. I saw them once in college, maybe 8 years ago. I was extremely inebriated and at the "Birthday Bash" for a local Williamsport radio station. Their birthday parties were probably some of the best I've ever been too, if only because I can never remember much of what went on.

I wasn't excited about PTM back then because some dude in the band was wearing a large foam lobster hat. Holy shit, did that hat piss me off. I remember not being able to concentrate on whatever song they were covering/butchering at the time because I was so pissed at that hat. I mean I was red hot about that hat. I was also at the bottom of a large gin and tonic.

Then some asshole kicked over my drink - I was sitting on the floor at this point in the night. That is the only think I remember overall, except for Troy pushing me into the City Hall fountain. Three things: that hat, asshole drink kicker, fountain.

Really, that's not too bad a score considering the night.

Here is the band.

And Troy being amused. I know Troy, it was weird. I feel the same way - he's still a dick.

Photobucket

And our little tiny perogies. They were good - but too small and way too expensive. I think I'll make some of my own.

Photobucket

So, good night. I would have liked to stay out later and I'm sorry we had to leave so early, but my Subaru has been known to turn back into a pumpkin after midnight.

Day124 - We abused them mercilessly.

Saturday, May 3, 2008: Centre Co. fun: Maura's Visit.

Today your friend and mine, Maura, came up for a visit. We spent most of the afternoon overeating at the Dellos partying like it was 2007. Some pictures were taken like this alumni shot of Affinity.

Jess bought a variety case of Sam Adams. My new favorite beer is Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. Thanks Jess to paying mind to my aversion to canned beer.

The place was littered with babies. It was wall-to-wall babies. I thought I was going to get pregnant just sitting in the living room. But it was very nice of Mark and Jodie and Anna to host us all, baby lovers or not.

That night, after a quick trip to the Dode, we went to Kelly's to see The Clover. I've only been to Kelly's once before, and it was not to see a band in a bar. It was to pig out to a point that was not fun. Tonight, the only thing I had was a glass of water and some of Jess' nachos. Some crazy good nachos.

At each table they have these little fake candles in the shape of a votive with a flame. Needless to say, we abused them mercilessly.

Troy is magic:
