Day127 - Sometimes I like crabs.

Tuesday, May 6, 2008: Jasmine Thai: Williamsport.

What a day this was. It started off rocky and only steadied out shortly before the sun set. I am grateful I've been going the positive thinking route lately, otherwise I would have been a mess.

Anywho, we were in Williamsport today and stopped at my favorite place to eat there currently: Pinapple Grill. Oh, wait, it's called Jasmine now. I'm sure next time I go it will be called Thai express or something similar.

It doesn't matter what they call it as long as they keep the Mango Chicken coming. Yep, that is chicken and mango in a mango shell.

Today we ordered crab ragoons. Probably the best that I've ever had. I didn't take a picture - because I didn't, don't judge! - but trust that they were yummy. This is what they looked like:

Day126 - Where the day takes you.

Monday, May 5, 2008: Our Office: Disapproving Bunny

I think the theme for this week will be change. Yesterday I changed my hair. Today, Troy was fired from his job. I guess his was a bigger deal. That is debatable.

Anyway kids, calm down. Everything is good in the hood. The day was stressful for many reasons, but it was also filled with many wonderful surprises. The biggest surprise (and the one that I am truly grateful for) is how loyal friends and family can be. I didn't see that kind of loyalty where Troy was working, but I see it in his future.

The biggest kicker is that he was going to hand in his resignation today. But, you know Troy, he can't leave a job peacefully - burning and bridges must be involved.

A great distraction was this book and a great card from Tre - Disapproving Rabbits.

Yep, you got it. A book of Disapproving Rabbits.

Here are a couple of my favorite links that are in the book: One. Two.

It's basically bunnies disapproving of everything you do, from what you look at on the internet, what you wear, your carpet, everything. Very cute and it will stay on my desk to save me from bad days.

Day125 - Playing for the other team.

Sunday, May 4, 2008: My House: Brown Hair.

Way back before I cut my hair, I was itching to dye it close to the color that my momma gave me but was undecided about doing it because my hair was 1) really long and 2) blond for a long time - probably around 10 years. Most people are surprised to find out that I'm not a true blonde (really, I'm not), even though I am unsure whether or not that is a positive comment.

Photobucket

I used a temporary die that probably won't last the week, which is fine because I'm scheduled for a haircut shortly. Right before I go I will decide whether or not I want to keep it dark or go back to blonde. It's kind of a big deal, because going back to blonde from brown will probably process my hair to a inch of it's life.

Hahaha. I guess it's not a big deal. Being a girl, it kind of just seems like a big deal. It's hair! I'm just lucky to have it in the first place.

Apparently, god got it right when he made me a brunette because everyone loves it, including me. Way to go god!

Day124 - We abused them mercilessly.

Saturday, May 3, 2008: Centre Co. fun: Maura's Visit.

Today your friend and mine, Maura, came up for a visit. We spent most of the afternoon overeating at the Dellos partying like it was 2007. Some pictures were taken like this alumni shot of Affinity.

Jess bought a variety case of Sam Adams. My new favorite beer is Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. Thanks Jess to paying mind to my aversion to canned beer.

The place was littered with babies. It was wall-to-wall babies. I thought I was going to get pregnant just sitting in the living room. But it was very nice of Mark and Jodie and Anna to host us all, baby lovers or not.

That night, after a quick trip to the Dode, we went to Kelly's to see The Clover. I've only been to Kelly's once before, and it was not to see a band in a bar. It was to pig out to a point that was not fun. Tonight, the only thing I had was a glass of water and some of Jess' nachos. Some crazy good nachos.

At each table they have these little fake candles in the shape of a votive with a flame. Needless to say, we abused them mercilessly.

Troy is magic:

This is how we party on weekends:

It was a great day. Thanks for a great time guys!

Day123 - Now that is a jacket

Friday, May 2, 2008: Bellefonte: Camera.

Yep, I bought another camera. I couldn't help it: it was $1 and too cute.

Photobucket

What makes it special and appealing to me is that although you cannot focus, you can change the f-stop. It is the weirdest little thing. The only control you have on focus is a second ring next to the f-stop that gives you distances. I can't imagine that the camera was that successful in it's production.

Also, the shutter is jammed. We gave it the old HomWest Try (TM), but I think that we may have made things a little worse. Maybe I'll give it to my dad to take a whack at.

If nothing else, I will put it on a shelf in front of my computer and I will stare at it and admire it's eccentricity.

Troy bought this jacket. I love it even though it is loud as hell. He needs a straw hat and a false sense of modesty to complete the trip back to 1954…

That night we went with Yana and Allen to a party in Boalsburg. Thanks for the night out guys! I will post a picture as soon as I can still one from Yana!

Day122 - The inside of a crab.

Thursday, May 1, 2008: Meals On Wheels Dinner: Shrimp Salad on Romaine Leaf

I was lucky enough to get a ticket and go to the Meals on Wheels benefit dinner with Affinity Connection this year. The speaker this year was Coquese Washington, the new coach of the Lady Lions basketball team.

Photobucket

Wow, what a super cool lady. So much better than the speech last year. She really is an inspiration and I can't wait to see the Lady Lions play next year.

I also tried this thing:

I was excited until I smelled it. It smelled like the inside of a crab. A dead crab.

The aftermath.

Everything else was really good, including a little triangle of something that I did not take a picture of, and I had a really good time all night!

Day121 - I'm corn-cobbing it.

Wednesday, April 30, 2008: My Kitchen: Corn Cobber

I think that if Troy ever bought me a sweeper or a dishwasher for a holiday, it would probably be the last thing he ever bought for me. It would either be the last day we were together, or the last day of his life.

That being said, the dremel he gave me for xmas is a favorite of mine.

As is this little corn cobber.

Photobucket

Even though I can only find one task for it (Rethinking that - I could maybe peel a mango or pineapple), it does make stealing little corn nuggets from the cob easy. Sure, the cobs are steaming hot - but now steaming hot kernals are not bouncing over the kitchen.

A little plastic package of joy:

Side note: I don't like eating corn off of a cob. It reminds me of being a kid and loosing a tooth while eating an apple. This is also why I do not eat apples in the traditional apple eating way.
