Day29 - A fish by any other name is still a fish

Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008: My Kitchen: Roasted Salmon and Mustard Cauliflower

I was lucky enough to get the flu that is making the rounds. It laid me out for about a week, so this post is a little past due.

We were lucky enough to finally schedule a dinner with Kyle and Carla after weeks of reschedules. I thought that I would celebrate by eating salmon for the first time.

Although I bitch and moan about hating fish, the only real fish that I ever had was a piece of battered something that I mistook for a Long John Silver's fish plank. Who knows what the fuck that piece was, and in all honestly, everything pretty much tastes the same there: like regret.

Troy made most of the salmon, I stuck with the cauliflower. I really liked the cauliflower although I was unsure if I would.

The salmon was good at first bite. But as the fish rested in my palate, the strong fishiness of it all took over and it was kinda gross. It TASTES just like it SMELLS. Fish tastes like fish. What a revelation - I know!

So, I'll probably try a more subtle fish, like a Tilapia or something. Thanks to Kyle and Carla (and of course Troy) for wonderful company and encouragement.

The we watched Fight Science. That shit rocks!

That is some feta btw, on the roasted mediterranean zucchini. No one is more surprised that me that I actually like eating veggies.
