This one goes out to Maura who is bored.
Where to start? I am about 3 weeks behind, which is a record for me, but I've been busy with work and life and there really is no better excuse than that.
Saturday, 7/7/07: Premiere Theatre: Transformers
I can remember vividly being in the 3rd grade and wanting the large Optimus Prime transformer that some kid in my class had. I needed it. But I'm a girl so I didn't have one. Looking back on it now, I can totally see why I'm fanatical about my power tools and why I had to had to have my own circular saw. It started with Transformers and that big, gorgeous red man.
So saying that the Transformers movie was probably one of the best action movies I have ever seen is totally the truth. I don't care about Die Hard guys. It's a good movie, but only really great because Alan Rickman is in it. My love of Transformers is probably clouded with the love of an inanimate object, but I don't care.
When we came home I was actually depressed. Why? Because in real life they probably don't exist. I say probably, because after the Duck/Chicken incident anything is possible. I just wanted it to be true so much, that it was disappointing to come home and know my Subaru wasn't going to fight Troy's Subaru in the court house parking lot anytime soon.
I loved it so much that Troy and I bought new action figures that night. Here is my Ironhide, Troy's Prime (c 1986 & c 2007). Ironhide has a little bullet that shoots across the room. Yes, we spent a whole day working and shooting projectiles at each other. Of course - what else would we do?
So, go see it if you haven't. It's auk to make a rich studio richer. They won't mind.
I love this guy. If someone buys me one, I won't say no.
And this thing. It's a helmet that talks like Prime. My head is gigantic and will never fit in it, but I was still in love.
**Also! For weeks i've been hearing the distant call of an Ice Cream Truck. I kind of thought that I was nuts because I could always hear his chime off in the distance, echoing off the valley, but I could never spot the dude. Well, after the movie we went to the garage, but it was hotter that hell so we took off early. We found the Ice Cream man and literally chased him in the car, pulled up along side of him and asked him to pull over. My face was probably the same shade as this Scooter Crunch bar. It was yummy. BTW, frozen ice cream snickers bars are pricey. Troy you owe me money.
Wednesday, 7/11/07: Dark Horse: Okay Paddy.
I think that this is the first time that I've actually seen Okay Paddy play at roustabout. They may have opened for Black Tie Review once, maybe, but I was bullshitting in the back while they played. This time I saw the whole shebang and it was pretty cool. Our friend Jason came up for a Bellefonte vacation and we picked up Mark along the way to the bar. Very great night.
Besides Okay Paddy rocking (which they did in spades), we played a little game called "Guess the STD." This mimics another game that we played previously at bars (I'm not going into specifics of that game because… well just because). I read a poster at my doc's office that say 1/3 of all PSU students have a STD. In the game, we just picked out who we though had one, what it was and what were the circumstances of them getting it. Yes, I know it's judgmental, but I do enough charity work that I think it will work out in the end. Good times.
Here is a pic of the band on stage.
Friday, 7/19 - 7/15: Arts Fest: Visitors & various activities.
We were very lucky to have some more visitors come on Friday: Gayle & Beastly and Tre, Nick and Edie. I'm sad that Jason didn't bring Fritz, but honestly I don't think the house could have held anyone else.
On Friday night we went to Home Delivery and then over to Harry Potter. Here are some pics of our table. My face is due to the not stop gang symbols that were being thrown. I don't care that this is a blurry pic of Tre. I'm not using the good one because we are not from the "West Side."
I wanted this Raspberry Belgian Wheat that they sell in their coolers, but I can never remember the name of it, so I just asked her for a raspberry beer. This is what I got - Farmhouse Lambic. It was really good but really expensive. We played a game at the table to see who could get the closest without going over. I think Jason won. It was $6! So good though and it got the job done. Notice the fancy foil. I would never get it again but it was a nice treat.
What did I get new to eat? This turkey ciabatta sandwich with an ultra yummy salad. Whatever their garlic salad dressing is it really tasty. Yum.
On to the Harry Potter movie… I think it was the best one yet. There was a couple times in the theatre that I jumped and squeaked a little. Much more realistic than any other HP movie. I'm bummed out that they cut so much out of the book, but what they condensed was so great. There were scenes what I imagined was better (Sirius' death for one), but their were so many more that were so much better than I expected like Dumbledore and the phoenix and Dumbledore's army. Tre even liked it and she kinda hates that shit.
After we left the theatre (we saw it at the new Premiere here. I'm so sad that we didn't see it down the street at the Garmen, but their show times just didn't work for us and it was kind of a now or never thing) we stopped at Walmart. In the bathroom I saw this crazy grafitti. What the hell? I love it even more that they spelled it wrong.
So go see Harry Potter. So good. And Ron Weasley is one hot ginger, if your into that sort of thing.
On Saturday, Gayle and Jason left us, but we soldiered on going into town for both art and food. The only two real things you need in life. Again, we ate at Kaarma and had delicious, fantastical food. So good. I could eat there Naan for days. Yumyumyumyumyumyumyum.
Afterwards we met up with Maura and Jess and walked around a bit. We stopped in the toy store and because we saw these guys in the windows. I'm positive that I would break one if I hoped on it a little, but I'm still in love with him.
Jess and I had a sword fight, much to the dismay of the shop keeper, with these unfortunately shaped swords. Highly attractive picture as well.
Maura is moving into a nice & swank condo next week. Unfortunately, it coincides with a million things, so we aren't going to be able to help her. Instead, we made this basket of all the stuff that you need but never have when your working like toilet paper, swedish fish and squirt guns. There is also other stuff, like duct tape and screw drivers, the actual stuff that you can't move without, but everyone should have at least one squirt gun. Come on - we have three.
Good luck Maura. I'm sure we will be crashing on your floor in no time.
I also bought a new print from Phillip Singer so now we have the full series. This is probably as close to a Mucha as I will ever come. All we need is a wall to post them on. They are gorgeous and I couldn't be happier to finally have them all.
This weekend was so great even though it was crowded and the chinchillas were pissed because of the dogs. Thanks for coming guys and your welcome any time. Bring your own fridge pack. |
