| Week 41 - My sister sometimes has zombie hands. Current mood: mellow Thursday, 10/11/07: Frackville PA, My pre-birthday celebration.
Believe it or not, this was my first birthday that I didn't spend with my family in quite some time. Today, a full week before my birthday, I went home to visit and open presents and eat too much bad food.
This is the Optimus Prime helmet that Tre bought me. It actually fit on my super large head -- what a surprise. There are 5 preset sayings in Optimus' primes voice + a speaker that will your voice to sound similar to Optimus. It's pretty cool.
She also gave me this super creepy Virgin Mother statue that will make it to the backyard in the Spring.
Friday, 10/12/07: Elysburg PA: Haunted House.
This is the first year that we've taken Tyler to the haunted house. I think that this pretty much sums up the experience. This kid isn't one for surprises and/or horror. He made it through eventually, although there was some tears along the way. He joked in the car on the way home but there were no joking around waiting in line.
Nick, Tre, Troy and Tyler. Tyler was not going to crack a smile for this or any other photo that night.
At the beginning of the path, this lovely women wearing the same mask every year gathers you into groups of 5 or so and waits to send you on your way. This picture sums Tyler's feelings for the night.
On our way through the path. Tyler held my hand and I walked in front of our group to take the brunt of the spooks.
I thought the house was pretty cool with the many changes that they made to both the path in the woods and the actual house. Tre and Troy disagreed. Whatever, I'm right.
Saturday, 10/13/07: Allentown, PA: Dorney Park: Holloweekends.
Usually we go to Fright Fest at Great Adventure, but this year for a variety of reasons we decided to forgo the long drive and stick close to home. Dorney is only 45 minutes from my parent's and, more importantly, I've never been there for Holloween. I can't remember the last time I was there, but it was probably when I was 17.
This is the opening gate. Fright fest does the whole Holloween thing in a much bigger way, but it's also 2x as expensive and littered with Jersey creeps.
Here is the crew that went.
If your asking yourself, are those people dancing to Thriller I'm here to tell you, yes, yes they are. And it was fantastic.
We waited in line for this Haunted path for almost an hour while Tre and NIck went on some crazy ass ride that takes you 4 stories in the air before dropping you. An HOUR. We walked about 10 feet into the path, some crazy ass ghoul wearing hockey shin gaurds come sliding across right in front of us shooting sparks everywhere and Tyler decides that he has to go to the bathroom. He literally almost crapped his pants.
My super amazing boyfriend took him to the john, missing out completely on the ride that he waited for. What a guy. I think that it eased his pain to know that the path kind of sucked and was filled with nothing but smoke.
We did manage to con Tyler into going on a couple more haunted rides. This was one of them - some haunted doc's office. You wear 3-d glasses. Thank god for the glasses otherwise it would have really sucked out loud.
We also went on a haunted train ride. It was HORRIBLE. But waiting in line was probably the most fun of the night. Here are some of the pictures that we took.
We laughed at this for a while. It looks like I'm terrified of Tre's zombie hands.
In turn, here's Nick creeping out Tre.
A very handsome Troy.
We were trying to recreate the magic that was zombie hands.
Another week over. This weekend went by so fast but felt like it lasted forever. I wish all weekend were like that. |
